Dragonflies Class
Teacher: Mrs Richards
Teaching Assistants: Miss Hopkins, Miss Amor, Miss Scarrott
CLASS 2 - Parent Information Sheet Through My WindowWelcome to Class 2!
We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and adventure together.
Our Class
Class 2 is a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 group, and we work hard to ensure that all children are supported and challenged appropriately according to their individual needs and stage of learning.
Our Current Topic – Through My Window
Our first topic this year is “Through My Window.” We will be exploring a range of exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum linked to this theme.
Please take a look at our Parent Information Sheet above for more details about what your child will be learning during our first topic.

PE:
We have PE on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school, with every item clearly named. This helps us to make sure that kits do not get misplaced or mixed up.
Forest School:
We also take part in Forest School sessions. We will let you know by email when your child’s Forest School session is taking place.
On Forest School days, children will need to bring the following items into school ready for their session:
Long-sleeved top
Trousers
Waterproofs
Wellies
Homework:
We ask that children complete at least three reads per week, with each read logged in Boom Reader. Regular reading at home makes a huge difference to children's confidence, fluency and understanding.
Numbots is an optional maths app available for Year 1 and Year 2 children. We encourage children to use it regularly where possible, as it provides a fun way to practise key number skills.
Children will also receive spelling and number fluency booklets home each half term. These provide opportunities to practise important skills at home.
Half-Termly School Project:
We also encourage families to get involved in our half-termly school project. These projects are a lovely opportunity for children to explore a theme together with their families and share their learning in school.
Our current project is “My Local Area.”
We look forward to seeing the wonderful things the children create!
